Born on 16th June 1912 (registered as Thomas R BALDWIN) in Newmarket [Newmarket 3b:859] to Thomas and Beatrice BALDWIN (née LOWMAN). His parents were living with Beatrice's mother at 9 Heath Terrace, Newmarket in 1911.

He married Newmarket born Zena COUNT in Brentford Q4-1938. They lived at 3 Field Terrace Road, Newmarket. Zena re married to Stanley BARKER in 1947.

In the 1939 register, a plumber's labourer, he was at Plantation Cottages, Newmarket Road, Exning with his wife Zena [6-7-1915] and Albert E CURTIS [3-4-1912] a lorry driver and his wife Rita [7-10-1913]. There is one closed record.


His Japanese PoW card gives his address as 3 Field Terrace Road, Newmarket. He died of malaria.
Chungkai Cemetery was mainly used for those who died in the hospital there. The nearby Kanchanaburi is much larger and holds the graves of those concentrated from graves along the railway

and commemorated on the Exning Road plaque, kept in the Exning Road, Working Mens Club
and his parents grave NG-L175 in Newmarket Cemetery
